COLUMBIA, S.C., October 2, 2014 – – South Carolina’s Commission on Higher Education has chosen Lux + Associates, a strategic communications firms with offices in Columbia, S.C. and Santa Fe, N.M., to produce the 2014 SmartState Program annual report. This is the second year in a row Lux has been tapped for the high profile project.

The SmartState Program was created by the South Carolina General Assembly to fund research-focused endowed chairs at Clemson University, the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and the University of South Carolina (USC), which would help spark the state’s innovation ecosystem. The SmartState Program has more than 45 endowed chairs in areas of importance to the state’s and nation’s economic fortunes. These include future fuels, biomedical, pharmaceutical, information technology, and advanced materials.

Lux will work closely with the Commission on Higher Education and Clemson, MUSC, and USC to produce the 40-page report. The publication documents the activities of the SmartState Program’s Centers of Economic Excellence, collaborations with corporate partners like BMW, GE and SCANA; and profiles specific success stories.
